How it works
50 minutes, one to one, live on Zoom from Bali, booked around your time zone. Nobody watching but me. We go through the basics at your speed, and you can ask the questions you would be embarrassed to ask in a room.
5 short lessons, about 20 minutes in total. What yoga actually is, and what it is not. How to breathe. How to tell a useful sensation from a warning. What the props are for. How to practise safely on your own.
8 practice videos, 10 to 30 minutes each, in a simple four-week path. Filmed from two angles, with nothing assumed.

Course content
Part 1: Your private session with Ocha
50 minutes, one to one, live on Zoom from Bali, booked around your time zone. Nobody watching but me. We go through the basics at your speed, and you can ask the questions you would be embarrassed to ask in a room.
Part 2: The theory
5 short lessons, about 20 minutes in total. What yoga actually is, and what it is not. How to breathe. How to tell a useful sensation from a warning. What the props are for. How to practise safely on your own.
Part 3: The practice, week by week
8 practice videos, 10 to 30 minutes each, in a simple four-week path. Filmed from two angles, with nothing assumed.
Week 1: The basics
Breath, and the few shapes everything else is built on. Slowly, properly, no rush.
Week 2: Standing
Finding your feet and your balance. Strength you will actually use.
Week 3: On the floor
Seated and reclined work, with props doing the heavy lifting.
Week 4: Your own practice
Putting it together into something you can do alone, without a video telling you what comes next.
Course description
Everyone in the video already knows what they are doing.
The teacher says "of course" and "simply" and moves on. Nobody explains where your hands go. You spend the whole class half a beat behind, looking at the screen sideways, and by the end you are fairly sure you did it wrong.
What changes
This course assumes nothing. Not that you are flexible, not that you know what a downward dog is, not that you can get up off the floor easily.
We start with the handful of shapes that everything else is built from, and we take them slowly enough that you actually learn them rather than copy them. You will hear where your weight should be and what you should feel — and, just as importantly, what you should not.
Everything is filmed from two angles, because the single most useless thing in a beginner video is a teacher whose body is hiding the very thing you need to see.
By week four you will not be an advanced yogi. You will be someone who can roll out a mat and practise on their own without needing anybody to tell them what to do next. That is a much better outcome.
Hi, I'm Ocha
I'm a Balinese yoga teacher, born and raised in a village in Bali. I've been teaching since 2019 — here on the island, across the Indonesian archipelago, and in Europe. Somewhere past 5,000 people have practised with me by now.
I teach the way I'd want to be taught: slowly, without pressure, and without pretending that a yoga pose fixes everything.
Why I chose to teach beginners
Because this is where people quit, and almost always for the wrong reason. They think they are bad at yoga. They are not — they were simply dropped into the middle of a conversation that started without them.
The beginning is not the boring part to rush past. It is the whole foundation. I would rather teach it well than teach anything else badly.
Can I promise you will be flexible?
No, and it is a strange goal anyway.
Flexibility is not what yoga is for, and plenty of very flexible people are in pain. What I would rather give you is competence: knowing what you are doing, why, and when to stop.
If you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or managing a condition that affects how you move, mention it in your session and we will adapt. If something hurts sharply, stop — that is a rule, not a suggestion.
What I can offer is a proper start, at your pace, without the sideways squint at a screen.
This is the part no app and no video can give you: 50 minutes, one to one, live with me on Zoom from Bali, at a time that works in your time zone.
We talk about where you actually are — not where a course assumes you are — and then we practise together, so you can feel it rather than read about it.
You leave with a practice shaped around your life, and you can ask the things you would never ask in a group class.
This is for you if you recognise yourself here:
- I have never done yoga, or I tried once and felt lost
- Every video assumes I already know the shapes
- I am not flexible and I am slightly worried about that
- I would rather learn properly than copy along
- I do not want to be the confused one at the back of a class
This is probably not for you if:
- You already practise regularly and want something advanced
- You want a strong, sweaty workout
- You are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or managing a condition that affects how you move — you are welcome, but tell me in your session so we adapt it properly.
20 places this round. That is not a countdown clock and it is not a marketing trick.
Every place includes a private hour with me, live on Zoom. There are only so many of those in a week, and I would rather do them properly than squeeze people in.
When these are gone the next round opens at a higher price. The private session is the expensive part, and I have kept it deliberately low while the course is new.
Very little. A quiet corner, and:
- A yoga mat, or a rug that does not slide
- Two blocks, or two firm cushions, or a couple of thick books
- A blanket
- Optional: a strap, or a dressing-gown belt
Do not buy anything expensive to start. We will talk about what is actually worth having.
"I am not flexible at all."
Genuinely, that does not matter. Flexibility is a result some people get, not a requirement to begin.
"I am not fit either."
Also fine. We start where you are, and the props exist precisely so the shapes come to you.
"Am I too old to start?"
No. Some of my most consistent students started in their sixties.
"What if I miss a week?"
Nothing breaks. The plan is a suggestion, not a test, and you have three months of access.
